Before Noah's Flood: Noah's Boys in the City of Mother Earth. Adventure, Romance, and Hope in the Face of Catastrophe
How do you keep
a positive outlook when the whole world is going off a cliff? In this classic adventure for all ages, an aging patriarch relates his thrilling experiences in the
Last Days of the Old World, an antediluvian time of decline and impending catastrophe much like our own. A budding young inventor, Japheth’s
peaceful plans are shattered when calamities strike, and his life becomes
filled with perplexing moral questions, conflicting desires, and a seemingly
endless series of dangerous challenges.
Bolstered by his solid upbringing at the feet of the patriarchs, a
healthy sense of humor, and the support of his faithful brothers Shem and Ham,
Japheth survives sudden disasters, resists seductive beauties, and narrowly
escapes death from monstrous behemoths.
When corrupt politicians betray their homeland, the sturdy brothers
fight, but are taken as hostages to the powerful but doomed City of Mother
Earth. Determined to do what is
right, the brothers turn the deceitful propaganda of their captors against
them, save a beautiful Adamite girl from savage Cainites, and chase assassins
through the fabled Zoo. Despite their
successes, dangers mount, and the brothers must finally choose between
embracing the illicit pleasures of an evil world system and trusting the faith
of the patriarchs. Join Noah’s boys
as they live confidently, purposefully, and even have fun, despite the utter destruction
looming over them.

This excellent story demonstrates far better research and imagination than the Hollywood versions of Noah's story. Its insights shed brilliant light on today's headlines while providing explicit answers to questions of "how shall we then live?"
ReplyDeleteOriginal articles will now be published at least weekly in five columns: Catastrophes and Adventures, Mother Earth Academy: Worldviews, Japheth's Favorite Inventions, Shem's Favorite People, and Ham's Favorite Animals. We are excited to offer fresh insights!
ReplyDeleteThis novel must have been made for homeschoolers! It has exciting adventures and pranks, wholesome romance, scientific principles and inventions, and honest, straightforward talk about moral issues: a winner!
ReplyDeleteYou are exactly right! The reason many choose to homeschool, it seems to me, is the almost monolithic culture promoting almost mindless immorality, pointless violence, and actual distaste for learning and invention. Noah's Boys is the absolute opposite, with a love of learning and invention, respect for the worldview and traditions of the patriarchs, an understanding that ungodly temptations are to be resisted, and a sense of wonder and even fun in the world we are supposed to be stewards of.
DeleteDr. Gregory Horning, author of Noah's Boys in the City of Mother Earth, was featured as a new member of Hampton Roads Writers (www.hamptonroadswriters.org) in their July 2017 Newsletter, and is happy to be associated with this fine group!
ReplyDeleteEarlhamite, the magazine of Earlham College, mentioned Noah's Boys in the City of Mother Earth in their latest issue (summer 2017). "Earlhamites might like to read his book...which has just come out this month. It is more than just an exciting adventure, or an grown-up Noah story: some may even find it eye-opening, a tonic to the world-weary."
